We conduct physical initiations according to the system of O.T.O. which is a culmination of initiatory current from various antecedents. See Liber LII for more information.
Initiation into O.T.O. is open to all people who are free, of full age, and good report.
What this means in practice is that you have to be:
If you already know people in O.T.O., then the third part is simple – talk to the people you know and ask them to sponsor you. It can be any two O.T.O. members who hold at least the First Degree of initiation, and it’s entirely their personal choice to sponsor you or not.
If you don’t already know some people in O.T.O., you’ll need to get to know some in order to get sponsorship. The best way to do this is to attend some public O.T.O. events. Most local O.T.O. bodies hold some events that are open to non-members, so find out which is the closest local body and ask what public events they are holding. It is always a good idea to introduce yourself and perhaps include a bit about yourself and why you are interested in O.T.O., members are usually very friendly and happy to answer any questions you might have.
It’s also a good idea to familiarise yourself with some of the basic ideas of O.T.O. – we don’t expect you to be an expert, but having some idea of what we’re about will definitely help you. Have a look through this website and its links to other related sites and check out the documents there.
